About 123JobCentral

  • Why should I have my resume professionally written?top
  • Stronger Resume = Better Salary.
    Stronger Resume = Easier Interviews.
    Stronger Resume = Shorter Search.

Nearly 95% of Resumes Dramatically Under-Represent the Candidate's Expertise and Value
To make the most of your next job search, it might be time for professional assistance. We see so many candidates struggle in this new job market trying to find a way through. With thousands of qualified candidates, the "hiring bar" has been raised. Yes, skills and expertise are important, but the deciding factors are now attitude and aptitude. Employers want candidates they know they can count on, that have a strong work ethic and will be true contributors to the organization. Attitude and aptitude have now moved front and center in the hiring process.

Most resumes focus on landing "A" job rather than "THE" job.
A well-crafted resume is both art and science. The ability to paint a picture of capabilities rather than tasks and responsibilities takes talent and experience. However, identifying a candidate's passion, capabilities and attitude/aptitude is the cornerstone for employers with "dream jobs" to identify their "dream candidates".

Candidates can only guess how resumes change when the economy and other factors shift.
It might surprise you to know that even Human Resource Managers and Marketing Directors come to 123JobCentral for professionally written resumes — 2 types of candidates you'd think would have marketing resumes down pat. But the reality is, even these high-level pros can't keep their fingers on the pulse of job marketing shifts that impact a resume's ability to generate interviews.

Would you self-manage a $1 million investment? Probably not.

  • Why did TunaRez become 123JobCentral?top
  • We loved being TunaRez and were really pleased when all our technology clients started referring their non-tech friends and family. We found that the techniques we were using worked well for attorneys, admin assistants, CEOs, marketing directors, nurses — you name it. We decided it was time for a broader approach, offering solutions to every kind of job seeker. So, 123JobCentral was born.
We're under the same management and ownership and have the same great team and processes. We simply saw it was time to expand our brand.

  • Do you still focus on IT professionals?top
  • Yup. We still have more expertise in the IT sector than anyone else. Remember, our firm evolved from a software consulting firm in the 1990s. So, we don't just know IT terms, we've lived and breathed technology for years. That's why we started our job search services efforts in the technology arena.

Resume Rewrite

  • How do I know my Editor has the knowledge and ability to craft a great resume for me?top
  • This is an important issue — after all, not every Resume Writer knows that IT resumes are not just about the technologies or that CEOs need to demonstrate their leadership and strategic abilities. At 123JobCentral, we start with Certified Resume Writers and then put them through boot camp to understand and perfect our methodologies. Our research shapes how all our services are crafted and delivered. It's critical to us that each member of the 123JobCentral team embraces that knowledge.

When we receive your order, your resume is reviewed by our Editing Manager and assigned to a Resume Writer who is the best match for you. You can be assured that your resume will be crafted by a expert appropriate to your level and industry. Additionally, as part of our Quality Assurance process, the Editing Manager performs a final review of your resume and cover letter to ensure it hits the mark.

  • Do I work directly with my Editor?top
  • Yes, we want this to be a collaborative process. Normally, communications are handled through email. Email can be great; it's convenient and effective. When it's not, we'll just call you. Whatever it takes to create the best possible resume for you.

  • Do I have to spend time on the phone with you?top
  • What kind of additional information do I need to supply?
  • How many opportunities will I have to revise my resume? Is there a timeline?
  • Check out How It Works. All the answers — and more — are there.

  • How long will it take to get my resume back?top
  • We can usually deliver resumes to you in about 3 – 5 business days after receipt of any additional information needed from you. Rush options are available. We do understand how anxious you are to get your completed resume and are dedicated to meeting your deadline. You can always check in with Customer Care to review status or to let us know if a job opening has appeared and you need rush assistance.

  • What if I think an aspect of the resume should be done differently?top
  • When you hire us, we become your job search consultants. It's not unusual for clients to question our approach since it's often different from the folklore of the past. When this happens, we will explain our rationale and more importantly, the Hiring Managers' perspective. Our job is to assist you in the best way we can, but the bottom line is: "it's your resume". So you make the final decision on how it represents you.

  • I'm worried that I'll have a "cookie cutter" resume.top
  • Let's face it, there are only a handful of standard resume formats. But the critical question is: what is the content and approach within that format that grabs the reader, does not waste their time and creates a individual distinction that produces rapid results? Just as critical, is it prepared by someone who understands and knows how to hit the mark with Hiring Managers? 123JobCentral receives feedback everyday that tells us our original, knowledgeable approach does just that.

  • Can I customize my resume for each job submittal?top
  • We don't recommend it, but you can. In the past the recommendation was to personalize the resume for each company. That just doesn't work well these days and is one of those examples of how time — and technology — march beyond the folklore.

In the world of job board and online submittals, individual-company resumes won't work and keeping up with this process would be nearly impossible. A job search is now a volume activity in ways it's never been before. An individualized resume was fine when you targeted just 20 firms, but now you'll easily submit your resume to 200+ venues.

Also, employers can easily spot a resume that's been targeted to them. They're pretty sophisticated about the approach now. Frankly, it sounds like pandering to them and our research shows they'd rather you just tell them about your capabilities.

  • Why do I need a cover letter?top
  • One reason: it increases your opportunities for an interview. Many employers simply will not consider your resume without a cover letter. To them it's a matter of common courtesy and demonstrates you've exerted a little extra effort.

  • What's a 123JobCentral cover letter like?top
  • You never know whether a potential employer will read your resume or cover letter first. We constructed your cover letter so that it "dovetails" with your resume. Each document should stand on its own and solve the 20-second read — identifying your target job, highlighting your expertise and hinting at your personality.

We design the cover letter so that you can modify the addressee and the heading when submitting for a specific position. However, the body of the letter should be appropriate for any job you seek and not require editing.

Also, employers can easily spot a resume that's been targeted to them. They're pretty sophisticated about the approach now. Frankly, it sounds like pandering to them and our research shows they'd rather you just tell them about your capabilities.

  • Can I get a refund if I change my mind?top
  • A resume is a custom product and can't be returned and restocked like a clock radio. The industry standard is that refunds are not offered on resume rewrites and this is our polity.

We generally start working on the formatting and Editor review right after the order is received. When we send the request for additional information, we include proprietary information and the analysis of the resume reflects considerable effort on our part. Sometimes clients want to cancel because providing additional information seems too difficult. In these situations we always try to help the best we can, possibly conducting a phone interview.

For years we've been able to maintain an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau because of our commitment to client satisfaction and willingness to try a little harder.

  • Do you do CVs?top
  • No. 123JobCentral focuses on the job markets in the United States and Canada where resumes are preferred to CVs in most arenas.

  • Do you do functional resumes?top
  • Actually, no. Employers have told us time and again they simply don't trust functional resumes. They assume the candidate is trying to hide something. Even in cases of career change, a chronological resume that puts your efforts and capabilities in context will produce significantly better results. A career-change job search will always be more difficult but a functional resume just makes it harder.

  • If I lose my resume, can I get it from you?top
  • Yes.

Resume Posting

  • Where will 123JobCentral post my resume?top
  • When you complete your posting profile you can select niche career sites (Technology, Sales & Marketing, Accounting, Diversity, Entry Level) to extend your marketing reach. Depending upon the categories that you select your resume will be posted on approximately 50 – 85 career Websites (the number of sites may fluctuate based on effectiveness and popularity). To see a list of sites we currently post to click here. Your Real-time Posting Report is updated as your resume is posted to each site.

  • How long will it take for my resume to be posted?top
  • How will I know that my information has been posted?
  • Your resume and profile with be active on most sites within 24-hours and the remainder within 72-hours. You can always check the posting progress on your Real-time Posting Report that's available whenever you log into your account.

Once your resume and profile have been posted to a site, we recommend you log onto your account for that site and inspect your profile. You'll find that some sites have specialized fields you can complete that may benefit you.

  • Can I keep my employer from knowing I'm job searching?top
  • Just so you know, it's very rare for an employer to find an employee's resume on job boards. However, we still recommend you post your resume confidentially if you are at all concerned. Take these steps to be sure:

    1. 1. During the registration process, select "Post My Resume Confidentially"; in this case we will select the confidentiality option on career Websites offering that feature. In your profile, your name will be masked as something like "Confidential User" and of course your email will be replaced with the job search email we provide.
    2. 2. Be sure to remove your name from your resume before pasting it to your account. You should also change your current employer's name. E.g., "Employer Confidential". Double check the job description to ensure it doesn't contain company-specific project names. You'd be surprised how many candidates select a confidential posting and then include all their contact info in the resume. Oops!
    3. 3. Since each career site is independently owned, their Terms of Service may conflict with this feature. As before, be sure to verify that each site represents you as you want. If not, you can choose to disable your account on that site.

  • Can I update my profile and/or resume after it's posted?top
  • Sure. Sometimes clients want to update all the sites at once with new information. However, our system cannot open your account once the account and password have been set on a career site. This protects your privacy. So, no, we can't update all sites at once. However, we make it as easy as we can by providing quick access to each site through your Real-Time Posting report. There you'll find a link to each site along with the corresponding username and password necessary to edit your online profile and/or resume.

  • What are "Job Agents" and how do they work?top
  • Job Agents are automated search engines at Career Sites that search for job openings matching your criteria and then email you the matching jobs. As part of your Resume Posting Service, we hand select a few career sites with the best Job Agent services and automatically set up Job Agents for you on those sites using your desired job title(s). You should receive email from those Job Agents when matches are found.

  • How does your spam filtering technology work?top
  • Posting your email address on the Internet can sometimes give rise to unwanted spam. To eliminate this problem, your account was set up with a special email address @westpost.net and our Spam Prevention feature.

Any email sent to your westpost.net address will automatically go through our Spam Filtering servers before you receive it. While no spam filtering technique is 100% foolproof, our service eliminates most non job-search related email. This keeps the email address you provide during registration private, secure and relatively spam-free.

  • How long will my resume remain active on the sites?top
  • Well, each career site is different. Usually a site keeps your profile/resume active for one year or forever — meaning until you deactivate it.

  • How long will my Resume Posting Service account remain active?top
  • One year. (See above.)

  • How can I deactivate my profile?top
  • Just log onto your account on the career site you're targeting. Most sites make it pretty clear how to remove your resume from circulation. Usually your account stays active and accessible to you so you can always reactivate your resume for another job search.

  • What are the coaches like?top
  • "These coaches really know their stuff." — Mary D from Wheaton, IL
